Description

from Russian Masterpieces
The distinctive Russian musical voice, with its rich orchestral shadings and melodic intensity, has created some of the most significant and beloved pieces in the symphonic repertoire. Come experience this passion in key works by Russian masters: Alexander Borodin’s vibrant and tuneful Overture to his opera, Prince Igor; Ukrainian folk-song-inspired Symphony No. 2 (“Little Russian”) by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; Sergei Rachmaninoff’s driving and ardent Variations on a Theme of Paganini (featuring acclaimed pianist Kwan Yi); and the colorful orchestral palette of Rimsky-Korsakov’s great orchestral showpiece, Capriccio Espagnol.
